Do you know how the Piston filling machine work?

  • Piston Fillers measure and dispense free flowing products – such as thin and/or moderately dense liquids – onto a container. Each machine is equipped with one or more volumetric pistons. Each fill/release cycle consists of an intake stroke, where the product is withdrawn from the container or hopper and taken into the product cylinder. The down stroke commences as soon as the product cylinder has reached its predetermined fill level. The piston pushes the product out of the cylinder and into the container.
  • Piston filling is a technology that has many advantages:
  • Low cost.lFast, accurate fill rates.
  • Versatile – able to handle a wide variety of products.
  • Gentle on your product.

  • Example of how a single piston filler/depositor works

how the Piston filling machine work

  • A PISTON FILLER WORKS IN 4 EASY STEPS:
  • 1. The filler/depositor is activated by a signal is sent to the machine from an accessory such as a foot pedal.
  • 2. The signal triggers the rotary valve to turn so that the product can now flow from the hopper into the cylinder.
  • 3. The piston begins to pull the product from the hopper into the cylinder until the cylinder is full.
  • 4. Once the cylinder is full, the rotary valve changes position which allows the piston to push the product through the cylinder and nozzle and into a container. The amount of product that is deposited all depends on the portion size that is required or selected.
  • Both the inside diameter of the cylinder of the piston filler and the length of the stroke of the piston will determine the volume of each fill completed by the machine. Of course, the larger the cylinder, the more product that can be accommodated with each stroke of the piston. The fill volume of the filling machine is increased or decreased by simply adjusting the length of the stroke of the piston. This is normally accomplished by simply turning a handwheel to shorten or lengthen the stroke of the cylinder. As the piston retract, it will pull product from the supply tank into the piston filler cylinder. Once fully retracted (or retracted to the set point), the piston will return to the cylinder, forcing product into the supply line leading to the fill heads. Since the volume pulled into the cylinder is the same with each fill cycle, the volume of product entering containers is consistently the same as well. Proximity switches can be used on either end of the piston to assure that the filling machine is retracting and extending to the correct points.
  • SERVO PUMP FILLING MACHINE
  • How It Works:
The filler’s master computer independently tracks the rotation of each pump head so that it knows precisely how much product has been delivered. When the target fill volume is reached, each pump and nozzle is instantly shut off, resulting in high accuracy fills of your valuable products. The computer stores all fill parameters in memory for fast changeovers.
  • Application:
This is the flagship filler of our company and the industry in general. It is extremely flexible and designed to fill almost any product in any fill volume. Even 55 gallon drums can be filled.
  • Examples:
The servo filler is found in all industries from pharmaceutical, cosmetic, dairy, chemical, food, etc. Both thin and thick products, and also very large particulates can all be filled on this machine. Cosmetic creams as well as thick, chunky sauces at pasteurized temperatures can all be filled.
  • Advantages:
Fill size changeovers are practically infinite and are instantaneous by computer control. Operator setup is greatly simplified. The design also lends itself very well to sanitary applications due to the ease of automatic cleaning.

  • Integrated digital control with Schneider PLC and high-tech touch screen controls for easy operation.
  • Designed for easy changeover and cleaning.
  • Professional manufacturing techniques using the ISO-9001 system.
  • GMP standard stainless steel.
  • Bottom-up filling for option.
  • Bottle neck location.
  • No bottle-no fill system.
  • Filling zone protected by stainless steel frame
  • Volume is easily adjusted through touch screen. Filling pistons are controlled by servo system.
  • Individual piston adjustment.
  • Digital control system to enable multiple filling actions on the same bottle for double, triple and more.Nozzles can set to be above bottle mouth or bottom up, synchronizing with liquid level (beneath or above) to eliminate bubbling of foamy liquids.
  • Three-step-filling, it can fill slowly at the beginning and then accelerate to faster speed, finally slow down once again to finish up. This can prevent foamy liquids from bubbling and avoid spillage.
